Quantity control

The quantity control is the process of inspection or checking as to whether or not the product is meeting the specified requirements and then reworking or redoing the defects. Quality control mainly consists of inspecting works and reworking unacceptable works.

It is only concerned with activities such as inspection, sampling, and testing which related to the specification. Hence, quality control is a reactive process.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance is the predetermined logical and procedural approach to work. Quality assurance systematic procedure to assume the client that he/she will get what he/she wants.

Quality assurance is a management tool that required communication in a structured and systematic manner. It can make the complex process of design and construction more effective with works completed to the required specification.

Objectives of Quantity control /Assurance.

  1. To provide the assurance that construction works and construction material will meet the minimum requirements.
  2. To provide a basis for inspection and control of construction activities.
  3. To provide confidence to the owner that the constructed product will be reliable, durable, safe, functional as per expectation.
  4. To provide feedback information to the designer so that he/she can learn from the past and can improve in future design.
  5. To reduce reworks due to unacceptable materials and workship. This can also reduce the construction period and cost.

Difference between Quantity control and Quality Assurance.

1. It is the part of quality management focused on fulfilling quality requirements.
2. Quality control aims to identify the defects in the finished product.
3. Quality control is usually the responsibility of a specific team that inspects and test the product.
4. Quality control is a corrective or reactive tool.

3. Everyone on the team involves in developing the product is responsible for quality assurance.
